homemade hot cocoa

A brief weekend up at Big White had given me the dose of Winter I needed. But with a bit of a cold, quick ways for me to warm up are very much appretiated! Homemade hot cocoa is quick to make, and has much less sugar than the prepared version, but with rich milk and a hint of vanilla, it won't be missed.

Homemade Hot Cocoa

1 tbsp. cocoa powder
2 tbsp. sugar
2 tbsp. water
1 cup of milk
1 tsp. vanilla

Stir the cocoa, sugar and water in a small saucepan. Continue to stir on low heat for 2 minutes. Stir in milk and vanilla until fully mixed. Continue to heat until it reaches your perfect temperature.

If desired, top with whipped cream and a sprinkle of cocoa powder.
